The technical program will be supplemented with an exciting
social program as well as an interesting program for accompanying persons.
The social program includes an icebreaker reception, fun night, optional
nature tours, and a conference banquet.
The Accompanying persons program includes
tours to some of the many scenic natural locations in Banff National
Park, as well as visits to some of the cultural and historical sites,
including
the Banff Museum.
In addition, optional pre and post conference tours will be facilitated,
including post conference excursions to Lake Louise and the Teahouse
at the Plain of Six Glaciers (active), Columbia Ice Fields, or Jasper
National Park. Mountaineering including rock climbing or hiking is also
popular in the vicinity, and can be arranged on an ad hoc basis.
The timing has been selected to directly follow the Calgary
Stampede and Exhibition, a world class western
rodeo and exhibition, which occurs from 4-13, 2008. Many potential
attendees have expressed
enthusiasm
about seeing the Stampede, called the “the greatest outdoor show
on earth”, prior to conference attendance.
For those interested
in attending part of the Calgary Stampede and Exhibition, arrangements
can also be made for tickets and accommodations prior to the conference.
Bookings, however, will have to be made well in advance for this event
and accommodations.
